UT System Creates Competency-Based Progrma for Medical Sciences

The University of Texas system (disclaimer: I completed a master’s degree at UT-Austin) has announced that it has designed a competency-based medical sciences program, designed to be viewed on mobile devices. The system will also offer hybrid courses in this program of study. Engineering may be the next field of study to be added to this project. In 2012 the system’s Board of Regents created the Institute for Transformational Learning with $50 million in funding. It is designed to improve student access and success through the use of technology.
