Bossier Parish Community College’s Unique Mobile App

Bossier Parish Community College is developing an app for mobile devices that will improve developmental courses. Student who used the app will have access to their courses any time, any place. It will also provide analytics data so the college can track which efforts are working. This is part of the OpenCampus pilot project which rolled out in April, 2013. This initiative is being funded by a Department of Education First in the World grant.

Google Re-Brands Apps for Work

Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides, and Calendar all got new features to make them more competitive with Office 365. I like the Apps for Education, and they are all most people will ever need. I like to import PowerPoint presentations into Slides and use the Slides presenter because it is easier to use than the PowerPoint Presenter.

Several Powerful Note-Taking Apps

I have been an almost daily user of the Evernote app for several years and I think it is a great app, if you use the paid version, which I have. It has several serious competitors now. One of them is Noteshelf, an iPad only app. This app will cost you $8. A similar app for Android users is LectureNotes, which costs $3.60. You can download a trial version free though. The company that makes Evernote also makes Penultimate, which lets you create handwritten notes an sketches. The basic version is free. Finally, you can download Notebooks by Zoho, which works with Android and iOS and is free.
