ClassDojo now Connects Entire Schools

Teachers have been using ClassDojo to share photos, videos, and messages between themselves and students for years. Now, whole schools can be connected over this platform.

Reflector 2

Reflector is a software application that performs like a wireless mirroring and streaming receiver. It works with both Macintosh and Android devices. “Mirror your content to the big screen without wires or complicated setups. Play games, watch movies, demo applications or present from the palm of your hand. Even send your screens directly to YouTube for others to watch live. Everything you do on your device can be wirelessly sent to Reflector!.’

This is not a product endorsement. I have not downloaded and tried out this product, I will report on it when I do.

Next Generation Online Learning

An article by Stephen Mintz, Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin and Executive Director of the UT System’s Institute for Transformational Learning. Mintz says that the six contrasting ways to achieve these generational goals are:

  1. Institutional Courseware
  2. Social by Design
  3. Discovery Learning
  4. Education at the Scale of the World
  5. Curriculum as Plug-and-Play Endeavor
  6. Instructional Modules and Just-in-Time Learning

Socrative Classroom Response System

Socrative is a polling tool similar to Poll Everywhere. It offers free accounts for teachers, and lets students submit their responses using tablets, smart phones, and laptops. I signed up for a free account there and will be reporting on it later. I don’t think it will ever be officially supported by ACC, but some of our teachers use similar classroom response systems such as Poll Everywhere.
